Corn Maze

     Oh my golly!! Who would have known a corn maze would be so darn fun?!! I just thought it was the funnest place!.......and no, I don't get out much either!! ;) But I informed the rest of the family, that I will be going every Fall from now on, & they are welcome to come with me, but mommy has found a new favorite place! ;)
     On Saturday we headed on over to the corn maze, not too far from our house. It was a windy day, hence the hats & jackets, but that didn't keep us from enjoying everything from the corn cannon, to the train with unlimited rides for the kids, to the bouncy balls, to the tires & slide playground, to the AWESOME corn mazes, to my favorite -- the caramel apples at the end. Yum!! If only I could come up with another excuse to go again this year! Anyone need me to take them? I'm more than willing............... ;)

Wood Pumpkins

     I just LOVED these 2 X 4 wood pumpkins from Kierste over at her Brown Paper Packages blog. I had to make one for myself. (And when I get my hunky hubby to cut me some more, I'll make a couple more different sizes so I can have a little group of 3 --- won't that look so cute?)  Pumpkins that will be around every year to make me smile!!

{Pumpkins}

     Fall is such a fun time of year!! And it's even better with my little pumpkins having fun with pumpkins! These kids make everything so much fun! For our pumpkins this year, we went to a local farm where they had a beautiful pumpkin patch with so many different sizes, colors, and varieties of pumpkins. We each picked one out & we can't wait to carve them for Halloween! In the meantime, they look beautiful by our front porch with the dried corn stalks.
     The last picture is of pretty princess Ashley in front of her preschool after returning from spud harvest.
     The kids are still deciding on their Halloween costumes. Each time I ask them what they want to be, they say something different! Oh well, maybe by the time it's Halloween they'll make up their minds! ;)

Spud Days

     Right now is spud harvest time where we live. While the farmers harvest all the potatoes with all of the help they can get, the kids get a 2 week break from school (yahoo!!!)
     And a few weeks ago was the famous annual Spud Days in Shelley.  I started out that morning by speed-walking the 10k race. It was a beautiful morning and a beautiful course. Then Derek, the kids, & Derek's sis Tiffany with her son Erik & her mother-in-law joined me for the parade down main street. The boys (Carson & Erik) kept checking to see if the parade was coming. When it did start, there was LOTS of candy for the kids with lots of fun floats, including BIG tractors and farm equipment, and a GIANT shopping cart. A crop duster even flew over top of us dropping thousands of ping pong balls with prizes marked on them!
     Afterwards there was lots of fun at the park including helicopter rides, tug of war into mashed potatoes, and a hypnotist show --- but we stuck to seeing the booths, snowcones, the blowup slide, a climbing wall, and Shetland pony rides. The kids had fun and said their favorite thing was the giant slide! It's such a fun unique  small town event that we look forward to each year!!
